Under the inspired guidance of eminent persons like Late Rao Bahadur M.A. Singarachariar, M.O.Parthasarthy Iyengar, Rao Bahadur V.T.Rangaswami Iyengar, L.V.Krishnaswamy Iyer, Rt.Hon'ble V.S.Srinivasan Sastry and G.Narasimhan known for their public spirit and service mindedness, the Hindu Educational Organisation started educational institutions one after the other, signifying their commitment to the noble cause of education.

Started in the year 1978, the Hindu Secondary School, Indira Nagar is one among the three schools run by the Hindu Educational Organisation, Headedby Dr.N.C.Raghavachari, Senior Advocate and well known philanthropist, the managing committee consisting of distinguished persons from different walks of life, guide and manage the functioning of the school with focus on providing value based quality education.

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and has classes up to class XII, with English as the medium of Instruction.

The school is situated in the heart of Indira Nagar, a two storied structure consisting of 4 blocks named Satyam, Jnanam, Anantam and Brahma being the motto of the school. It has in all 38 classrooms, well venilated, airy, with adequate furniture. The school has a very good infrastructure with well equipped laboratories, library, computer center, maths lab, audio visual room and conference hall.

The aim of the school is to provide value based education with a view to develop the mind and personality of each child; to inculcate the qualities of leadership, to instill Indian culture and respect for the noble ideas and norms of the society; to provide comprehensive education, aiming at their intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development and growth. The school provides a caring environment where students are stimulated to learn and improve their creative skills. Co-curricular activities and other programmes are designed for an optimum intellectual growth and overall development of the child. The school has an impressive track record of more than two decades of service in the field of education.

The school academic year is divided into three terms, June to September, October to December and January to April.
